Temple of Apollo (tragicomedy)

Represented in 1526, in Almeirim, upon the departure of Infanta D. Isabel (daughter of D. Manuel I) to marry Emperor Carlos V.

Characters: Apollo, Temple porter, Villain, the Vencimento pilgrims, World, Glorious Temple, Omnipotent Scepter; the Flor da Gentileza, Fame, Gravity and Wisdom pilgrimages.

This is an allegorical piece, the purpose of which is to highlight the qualities of the emperor and the future empress, D. Isabel.
The character Apollo decrees that in his temple will only allow the entry of pilgrims who belong to the house of the emperor and the new empress. The allegories / pilgrims that represent the qualities of the bride and groom parade before the audience. The characters who identify with the emperor are the World, the Maturity, the Omnipotent Scepter and the Glorious Temple. The Empress has the characters Flower of Kindness, Fame, Gravity and Wisdom. All of them are admitted to the temple and the play ends with singing and dancing in honor of the bride and groom.
